Somos Agua

For policy makers and the poetic imagination at once

The pavilion is composed of several interconnected installations, each exploring urban water as both a vital resource and a metaphor for flow, care and transformation. It was built in collaboration with SACMEX, the city's public water utility.

Becoming water

At the heart of the pavilion is Estado, a cylindrical 360-degree installation whose structure mirrors the form of a pipeline. Four eight-thousand-pixel projectors cast immersive visuals across its surface while transparent flooring gives the illusion of floating above liquid motion. Surrounded by reactive sound and light, visitors experience the invisible pulse of urban infrastructure as something intimate and alive.

What lies beneath

Using augmented reality and a custom app, visitors interact with a 1:10,000 scale model of Mexico City to explore the underground network of pipelines. A game invites users to simulate water use at home, drawing direct links between personal behaviour and collective systems.

A body in the shape of a current

The final movement is a choreographed film loop created with dancer Raúl Tamez, projected holographically inside the pavilion, where the human body becomes water.
