A timed ritual of renewal, staged inside the redesign of Mexico City's Museum of Indigenous Art.
Set within the redesign of Mexico City's Museum of Indigenous Art, Fuego Nuevo is a timed immersive experience inspired by the ancient ritual of renewal celebrated every fifty-two years. The installation reimagines the ceremonial fire through architecture, light and interactive storytelling — bridging past and present through space and sensation.
01 · Ritual
One moment, once a cycle
At the centre of the project is a one-moment ritual show, where visitors witness the symbolic rebirth of time through a carefully choreographed sequence of sound, motion and light. Rooted in indigenous cosmology, the experience was designed in alignment with the ceremonial calendar of 2025.
02 · Architecture
A hall that is sacred and contemporary
The museum's main hall was reimagined in collaboration with Riwa Studio and one of Mexico's leading curators, creating a space that holds ceremony without turning it into spectacle.
03 · Journey
Memory, myth and continuity
Interactive and sensorial elements guide visitors through a layered journey of memory, myth and continuity — offering not only historical context, but a felt connection to cycles larger than ourselves.
